MoleMap Returns to Mount Gambier.
WPRS and MoleMap Mt Gambier are very excited to announce that our full scope of skin cancer surveillance services are recommencing in July 2024!
We are excited to be welcoming Melanographer and Registered Nurse, Amy, to the clinic! Amy has recently relocated to Mount Gambier from Gippsland in Victoria. She has many years experience as a nurse, including in the operating theatre and in her free time enjoys cooking, reading, time outdoors on the farm and running around Blue Lake.
With her training in Melanography, Amy can help create a detailed map of our patients’ skin, meticulously identifying moles and lesions and capturing intricate photographic records to be reviewed by a Dermatologist. By effectively tracking any changes in moles and lesions over time, we can ensure proactive care and provide a vital service for our community.
As melanoma and other sun related skin cancers are extremely common especially in Australia, it is vital to detect and treat skin cancer as soon as possible.
Therefore, regular skin checks are important. This is especially true for those with a personal or family history of Melanoma.
Other very important criteria are:
• Those who have had multiple episodes of sunburn in childhood
• Blistering caused by sunburn
• Solarium use
• Currently on immune suppressant medication
• Outdoor occupation and lifestyle
• Skin type easily burnt by sun exposure
• High lesion count
A wide range of appointment types are available at WPRS to accommodate particular skin cancer risk. MoleMap appointments with Amy are available in Mt Gambier from Thursday 11 July 2024.
Please do not hesitate to contact our Mt Gambier clinic at 08 8725 5302.
